Baby Teddy – newborn in-home session

It feels like I had just been there, the weeks had flown by since I had gone to Heather and David’s house to capture their maternity session together.  It was a beautiful end-of-the-summer evening, the breeze was warm and the sun beamed warm light across the sky as it slowly set behind the trees.  I met Heather and David in their backyard for some lifestyle maternity photos.  They are such a fun and relaxed couple and really wanted a more documentary-style session to capture the two of them together before their sweet baby arrived.

I was so excited to hear that Teddy had arrived!  He was born, strong and healthy, and I couldn’t wait to meet him and capture this sweet little family together for the first time.  I headed out to their home again, this time the weather was a little more like fall, the sun in the sky but cooler temperatures had arrived.

We started out in the living room.  They have the most amazing feature wall filled with books, movies, decorations and sentimental pieces filled with memories of their families and their past together.  They took turns holding Teddy, comforting him as he laid in their arms, and snuggling him together with hugs and kisses.

Next, we headed up to Teddy’s bedroom.  Heather told me that they call his room their “Favourite Things” room.  It was filled with an eclectic collection of their favourite things, pictures, plants, song lyrics,  Daddy’s guitar, a vintage rocking chair, and, of course, Baby Teddy.

Heather and David have a beautiful master bedroom with a barn wood feature wall behind their bed which made for a gorgeous place for some more cuddles together.  They laid on the bed together for a while, before David went and grabbed his guitar and played Twinkle Twinkle Little Star for Teddy as he snuggled in his Mama’s arms and listened so peacefully.

Congratulations on the birth of sweet little baby Teddy.  And thank you, Heather and David, for inviting me to your home to document your journey from pregnancy through to welcoming your little newborn baby home.  It was so great seeing you both again and getting to meet your little one.
